Welcome from…
T M TATTOO
TASHA M. GARRISON
This is the section of the website that is truly dedicated to me talking as an individual, rather than in third-person (weird, I know!). It always felt a little odd to me that artist bios are usually written in third-person. I mean, I like my life. It’s cool and all… don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think my life is THAT cool. If it were up to me, this entire website would be written like this. Unfortunately for me, the internet likes to make sure you have good user engagement, which results in pretty tame, professional-speak. So there are the cut-and-dry pages, such as the FAQ and the landing page. However, this page is mine to write however I like! Quite nice. I think this space is pretty cool.
When it comes to my work itself, not my artistic goals: My tattoo stall is up in Carson City, but I operate as a freelance artist just about anywhere. I am deeply grateful to have an occupation that allows me the time to explore. Tattooing is how I got my first foot in the door as a professional artist (Huge thank you to my mentor, Jason, for extending the monumental opportunity to begin professionally with art). There’s so much to explore, and so many chances to create novel work. The magic of the internet is that I can be in Nevada (present for physical work such as tattooing), and yet send digital work to clients regardless of their location. I’ve served local businesses, as well as out-of-state organizations. I am not confined to my local area when it comes to graphic design work. I enjoy keeping my projects varied. A lot of my creative endeavors are difficult to condense into genres as a result. I’ve always been the kind of person to explore multiple mediums of art at once. I love the variety, interest, and learning that can come from it. So even though I “specialize” in tattooing, I’ve known for a very long time that I am interested in serving clients in other art mediums alongside it.
Growing up in rural Nevada, I’ve become extremely appreciative of God’s creation. Being out in nature, whether it be in the trees or along the rivers, I feel something that is beyond myself. Not only did living in the desert give me a love for wilderness, but it also fostered my appreciation for animals. Any animal, wild or domestic. Animals are perhaps my favorite subject of all. If I can have it my way, I would work daily on wildlife and nature-related pieces. I am deeply inspired by artists of multiple disciplines and styles, but what they all have in common is an eye for the natural world. To see the world gifted to us and creating work in honor of its beauty… I see it as a high honor. The world around us is spiritual, and so is the ability to create itself. To be able to paint, draw, tattoo, write… whatever our respective creative skills may be. It is so special to me that we as humans get the opportunity to create within a world so full of wonder. Even better, we get the opportunity to share it with those around us. Art has the potential to be a medicine for the soul (whether you are the creator or the viewer). Art can communicate so much, even without a single word written. Though I’m still learning what this means for myself as an artist and believer, I hope to breathe these values into my work.
My final goal as an artist seems kind of contradictory now that I have it written out. The “final” destination: to not have an end goal. To continue growing. Art is such a nebulous ability. It is difficult to encapsulate the passion because my heart is drawn in many directions. Thankfully, the essence of art is variety. Even mediums that seem opposed will benefit an artist to study, as they have ways they tie together. Photography/videography, editing, painting, graphic design, tattooing, and illustration are some of my favorite skills I’ve been gifted the privilege of learning. I hope to bring each of these skills to the table for clients, for whatever projects they may desire. It’s one of the main reasons one of my slogans on my earliest business cards was “Artistic Goods and Services.” Goods AND services; to be of service to others is one of my deepest callings. So, if you have an idea but don’t see it on my website… Just know, I’m just as eager to work on off-the-wall projects. Or at least help point you in the right direction. At any time, feel free to message me with your creative ideas. I would love to assist you with your artistic visions!
